Court Update: The man who accused Kevin Spacey will not identify himself, setting up dismissal of his lawsuit

The civil lawsuit against actor Kevin Spacey is expected to be dismissed after attorneys for the accuser on Thursday said he refused to identify himself. A federal judge ruled last week that the man – identified in court documents as C.D. – must reveal his identity publicly. Judge Lewis A. Kaplan determined that the public has a legitimate interest in knowing the identity of the man, noting in this case “that interest is magnified because C.D. has made his allegations against a public figure.” Attorneys for the accuser filed a letter Thursday in a New York court informing the judge of the decision

Kevin Spacey accuser cannot sue him anonymously, Judge rules

A federal judge ruled Monday that a man, who is identified as C.D.., who accused Kevin Spacey must reveal his name in order to proceed with a lawsuit. C.D.’s attorneys have argued that he should be allowed to remain anonymous, and that revealing his name publicly would re-trigger his PTSD. But Judge Lewis A. Kaplan was unpersuaded by that argument, noting that C.D. had already shared his story many times over the years, including with Vulture in 2017. “The evidence suggests that C.D. knowingly and repeatedly took the risk that any of these individuals at one point or another would reveal his

“There are so many people along my path who have been instrumental, but one in particular, who we got to watch up on that screen tonight. And I haven’t watched that scene, with Jack Lemmon, in Glengarry Glen Ross, in a very, very long time. And by the time we did that film, we’d had this kind of remarkable journey, in which I had met him when I was in a workshop for young actors in a drama class when I was 13 years old. And after I did a scene from a play, that man, who was an idol of
