COURT UPDATES: What happened today at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London

Kevin Spacey was this morning granted unconditional bail at a magistrates court hearing in Westminster, London, as the case against him was referred to Southwark Crown Court. Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikran said he did not believe Spacey, appearing under his full name Kevin Spacey Fowler, posed a flight risk and was therefore free to move freely in the run up to his trial. Natalie Dawson, prosecuting the case for the Crown, had requested Spacey should surrender his travel documents and passport to ensure that the US citizen does not leave the UK. Addressing Spacey, Deputy Chief Magistrate Ikran said: “You have co-operated,

Court Update: trial date set for October

Judge Lewis A. Kaplan ruled that the trial date will be October 4, 2022, at 9:30 am and that that date could be subject to any changes warranted by pandemic circumstances. The jury trial is expected to run for two weeks or less. In the last weeks Spacey has filed a declaration categorically denying every aspect of Rapp’s story: “I categorically deny [Rapp’s] claim that I sexually assaulted him or otherwise made a ‘sexual advance’ on him. I met [Rapp] several decades ago. I never had a sexual encounter with Mr. Rapp. Nor did I harbor any sexual interest or desire in

Court Update: anonymous accuser dismissed from lawsuit against Kevin Spacey

A person who anonymously accused Kevin Spacey was removed from a lawsuit against the actor Thursday, after a federal judge decided the case couldn’t continue if the accuser is unwilling to publicly reveal his name. Judge Lewis Kaplan has officially dismissed the lawsuit brought on by an anonymous accuser known as “C.D.” after he denied to disclose his identity to the court. According to court documents, Spacey’s attorneys sought to dismiss the case entirely after the judge ruled on May 3 that C.D. could not move forward with his lawsuit if he remained unwilling to disclose his identity. C.D. was given 10

Court Update: The man who accused Kevin Spacey will not identify himself, setting up dismissal of his lawsuit

The civil lawsuit against actor Kevin Spacey is expected to be dismissed after attorneys for the accuser on Thursday said he refused to identify himself. A federal judge ruled last week that the man – identified in court documents as C.D. – must reveal his identity publicly. Judge Lewis A. Kaplan determined that the public has a legitimate interest in knowing the identity of the man, noting in this case “that interest is magnified because C.D. has made his allegations against a public figure.” Attorneys for the accuser filed a letter Thursday in a New York court informing the judge of the decision

Kevin Spacey accuser cannot sue him anonymously, Judge rules

A federal judge ruled Monday that a man, who is identified as C.D.., who accused Kevin Spacey must reveal his name in order to proceed with a lawsuit. C.D.’s attorneys have argued that he should be allowed to remain anonymous, and that revealing his name publicly would re-trigger his PTSD. But Judge Lewis A. Kaplan was unpersuaded by that argument, noting that C.D. had already shared his story many times over the years, including with Vulture in 2017. “The evidence suggests that C.D. knowingly and repeatedly took the risk that any of these individuals at one point or another would reveal his
